LMH offer services in all design stages from initial feasibility studies to QA services during construction.

Programming and budgeting

In the programming stage, we assist, defining performance criteria in dialog with the client and considering the impact on architecture, cost and future maintenance. It´s important for the final result to have a realistic level of performance criteria to allow for freedom in the design stage and to avoid redesign in later stages.

Specification and tender documents

For the tender package, LMH can provide technical specifications and specify the criteria and scope of contractor design. We can specify site conditions, construction time schedules as well as legal parameters to ensure control of design, construction cost and deadlines for finalization of the envelope.


In the procurement stage LMH assist on defining possible contractors, setting up prequalification documents and handling the prequalification process. We assist the client during the tender negotiation process and participate in value engineering if needed.

 Concept Design

In the initial design stages, LMH can develop strategies and concepts as well as testing ideas. Daylight, energy and structural performance can be simulated and initial feasibility studies carried out, on production, transportation, installation concepts and construction cost.

Prototyping and testing

Facades must be certified and CE marked. LMH offer services on specifying test regimes and benchmarking as well as specifying and engineering prototypes and mock-ups. We collaborate with several renowned and notified bodies in Europe. Testing can also be useful to optimize a design and value engineering where the codes do not apply or will result in overengineering.

 Contractor design and production

LMH plays a strong role in the process directing the contractor for the right solutions and facilitate negotiations for the client.
A strong involvement in this stage avoids wrong decisions and keep control of the design quality, cost and time schedule.
LMH performs quality assurance on design documentation, testing and production.

System Design

Based on the concept design LMH will develop systems for the envelope, connecting details and interfaces to the building structure and mechanical components. The design can be based on existing systems or developed as fully bespoke systems. The design will deal with construction tolerances, water and air tightness and thermal issues. LMH will define and handle prototyping, testing and sampling for visual as well as technical issues.

Structural Design

LMH engineers glass, steel, wood, concrete as well as hybrids and composite structures. We develop the structural design on all facade types as well as connecting secondary structures and special main structures. We collaborate closely with all disciplines to coordinate the interfaces between envelopes structures and technical components.

Building Physics

Thermal performance, condensation, thermal movement, daylight and acoustics are all issues that must be controlled as an integrated part of the envelope design. LMH offer these services as part of the design process and controls the interface to the M&E and energy engineers.


LMH can advise on the selection of materials for exterior cladding and substructures. We have the capacity to design envelopes within a wide range of materials from traditional steel, glass timber, concrete and stone to more advanced materials like fiber composites, FRC and ETFE foils.

Complex geometry

Complex geometry buildings must be controlled through parametric and scripting. LMH uses Rhino and grashopper to develop geometries and have strong experience in building platforms between architects and structural engineers that allows for quick adjustment of the geometry during the optimization process.

Environmental physics

LMH assess the surrounding environment such windcondition, solar radiation, moisture and snow build-up. The assessments such as wind engineering / CFD or solar energy studies are used as the basis for the outline design to have the best understanding of the environmental drivers and to optimize the design beyond the basic codes.
